It's What's on the Inside that Counts!

At BuildASofa.com® we are very serious about our quality. How serious? We own and operate our own plant in the United States the produces every piece we sell!  We found that only by operating our own factory we're we able to guarantee the quality of our product.  How your sofa is built and the quality of the materials that go into it, are just as important as the look and comfort!

THE BuildASofa.com® ADVANTAGE:

ALL OF OUR FRAMES ARE MADE FROM 100% HARDWOOD:

We never use pine or plywood to make our sofas.  Almost no other manufacturers can honestly make this claim.  Other manufacturers will use words like "engineered hardwood" which is plywood.  When asked what type of wood is used, they will say "there is hardwood in there", never finishing the sentence with "but it's only 10% of the wood used". The rest is pine or particleboard!

WE USE HIGH-QUALITY STEEL SPRINGS, WITH TIGHTER'S SPACING THAN INDUSTRY STANDARDS, AND HAND-TIE THEM AT THE EDGES FOR CONSTANT SUPPORT EVEN NEAR THE ARMS:

Most manufacturers use wide spacing on springs, and you lose support near the arms. Even worse, some manufacturers use webbing, which will loosen in a short amount of time and leave you with saggy cushions.

ALL OF OUR FRAMES INCLUDE DOWLING, GLUING AND BLOCKING:

Each of these processes ensures a frame that will last a lifetime. Many frames produced are made with pinewood, which is very soft, and only then stapled together. Amazingly, no glue is used in the manufacture of many sofas. In short order, the staples will begin to work themselves out of the pine causing squeaking and creaking noises. Occasionally, the pine will fail completely leading to a frame breakage. Asked to see a sample in the showroom of other manufacturers pine frames.

ROLLED FIBER CHANNELED BACK CUSHIONS:

At BuildASofa.com® our back cushions are made with rolled poly fiber that is put in a compartmentalized back cushion so that it is impossible for it to fall down over time.  It cost us more to make them that way, but we feel it is the only way to do it. Most manufacturers only use blown in fluff for their back cushions. In time, these back cushions will settle, causing a frumpy and out of shape look.

CONTRACT QUALITY FABRICS:

Many of our fabrics are the same as used by major corporations for hotels and other commercial projects.  Other manufacturers will use the very cheapest fabrics available, and while they may look like durable fabrics, they tend to fall apart rather quickly.  If you're looking for durable fabrics, ask in the show room which fabrics are contract rated and we will help you find the one that's perfect for your situation.

FULL PADDING ON OUTSIDE AND BACK OF SOFA:

We fully finished the outside arms and backs of our sofas. That means that under the fabric there is adequate support that the fabric won't wrinkle or sag. Even behind our back cushions we go out of our way to provide adequate support for a lifetime of use.   Other manufacturers will only drape the fabric down the side and back and this leads to wrinkling and sagging of the fabric.

Feel free to ask a designer at any BuildASofa.com® showroom for a thorough explanation of our quality. We even have cutaway models to show you how our sofas are built. Try to find a cutaway in most stores and they will tell you it's not available. That's only because they don't want you to see what is inside.
